General Policies
Kindermusik with Munchkins to Mozart Class Policies
Have Fun!
Kindermusik is a wonderful experience, and the #1 policy in my classes is to be silly and have fun! Now on to the technical stuff...
Classroom Behavior (particularly for Village & Our Time classes)
If your child needs to cry (obviously this refers to the other children), encourage him/her to take a greak outside the room. Running is NOT allowed in our classroom. If your child would like to run, please take him/her outside in the hallway to run. Please leave toys, snacks and pacifiers out of sight during class.
Non-enrolled Siblings
Older/younger siblings are permitted in class only after teacher's approval. However, please understand that siblings are not to dominate or disrupt the class. Please have siblings wait until all of the registered children have taken their instrument or prop before they get theirs in case there are not enough. If they are within the age range of the class they should be a registered participant.
Illness
If your child has been sick with fever, "barking" cough, "green" nose, diarrhea or other illness within the last 24 hours, please do not bring him/her to class. Please call your teacher if your child will not be attending class for any reason.
Make-up Classes
If your child misses a class, he/she is welcome to make up the class by attending any other session offered during the week. Simply call in advance to schedule make-ups.
There are no refunds for absences.
Classes will be made up in the event ofteacher illness or inclement weather. I will notify you of the cancellation and the scheduled make-up day. In case of inclement weather, we will follow District 81's decision on closings unless I call you otherwise. If there is a snow delay, we will still have class at the regular time.
Making the Most of Kindermusik Classes
Plan to arrive about 5 minutes early for class. This provides time for your child to settle in to the musical environment as he/she prepares to enjoy exploring instruments, reading books, or listening to music. Be sure to dress comfortably.
During class, the most important thing you can do for your child is to be an active and patient role model. It is not uncommon for a child to attend several classes before feeling comfortable in class. Don't be discouraged - what a child is absorbing in class is often evidenced in the comfort of the home environment rather than in a certain level of participation in class. The understanding and consistency of the parent or caregiver in class and at home are key to facilitating musical learning and growth.
By the way, I love for parents to visit before or after class, but not during class time, please! (smile) When you are an active, focused, wnthusiastic participant in the class activities, your child will model your actions and focus more fully too.
Kindermusik at Home!
You are your child's most valuable teacher and music education occurs best at home in your chld's natural environment. So listen to the home CD together (included with the home materials) and show Grandma the dances! Home participation makes all the difference to your child's learning in ths class!

- Most browsers display an icon
that indicates whether or not you have a secure connection. Look for the
unbroken key or closed lock icons in the bottom left or right corner of
your browsers.
